The Joys of Summer

Our first session of summer camp was a huge success! Among many other activities, the children can be seen here making yogurt popcicles, tie-dye coffee filters, an elaborate "towel fort-house," and eating barbequed hotdogs. The older children have been especially welcoming and patient with their new, younger classmates. All of the students' personalities just shine when they're outside playing in the sprinkler, dissolving chalk in buckets, and gathering grass and mud to make cakes and spaghetti. As usual, catching butterflies and picking collecting the smallest of flowers is a favorite hobby. Teamwork is at an all-time high too! During the daily creation of these towel forts, the kids learned to plan together without any interference from the adults. Each child's towel was somehow incorporated. They made rules about removing shoes before entering and placing them inside a basket near the "door." (Seems vaguely similar to our classroom routine, eh?) Outdoor play is a truly magical experience to observe!
