Our First Eggs

On Monday afternoon, one of the students spotted our first egg inside the chicken coop! Ms. Morgan took the kids inside to look a little closer and found one more. This week we've gathered a total of ten eggs! Ms. Marie plans on making omelets with her students in the future and Ms. Melodie's students can go outside to gather the eggs for snacks they're baking. Today, one of the little girls watched a hen laying an egg, and when she was done, collected the eggs and found them nice and warm. If you've never felt a warm egg before, you're really missing out!

This week Ms. Marie's class had a pirate birthday party. The kids loved the neat pirate hats and napkins that the birthday boy's mom brought in. Ms. Melodie's class baked mini pumpkin pies that morning, so they didn't miss out on the festivities one bit. Both classes have been practicing their thanksgiving songs for our upcoming celebration. It's so sweet to hear them singing as a chorus! We've got our pilgrim hats and coifs all ready for the special day. One of our students declared that she wants salted meat for thanksgiving since that's what the pilgrims ate!

It seems that at this point there's no turning back... Fall is here to stay. The leaves are crunchy beneath our feet, the winds are gaining strength, and most of the trees are barren. Even the honeybees have decided that the sweet-seeded pine cones hanging on the fence aren't as tempting as huddling inside their hives to keep their queens warm.

Have a cozy weekend, everyone!
