We had five simple days of school, this first week of December. The kids continue to make great strides in learning their sounds and there are several new readers in both classes! The Bookmobile came on Tuesday, the last visit for a whole six weeks. The children will surely miss Ms. Cindy the librarian. She always reads the sweetest stories... Ms. Melodie's class also made candied walnuts. Ms. Marie's class ate the butternut squash popcicles they made before Thanksgiving as a special dessert after lunch today. It was so funny to watch their reactions. Some kids loved them so much they ate three or four!
Now we're gearing up for the holiday season. Some of the children have been learning about Advent in the atrium with Ms. Marie, and the school is also participating in The Shepherd's Staff program. We'll donate stuffed stockings for Carroll County kids. We are also adopting two families this year for Christmas, so next week there will be jars in each class for kids to bring their family's monetary contribution. Then, the teachers will buy gifts for the families and the children will help wrap them in class before winter break.
