Thanksgiving Party!

What a busy couple of weeks we've had! Before Thanksgiving, the kids made Butternut Squash Popcicles for the party, but in the hustle and bustle of things, we forgot to hand them out! Next week the kids will finally get to try them. They look delicious though... pureed squash, cream, and honey! They children also made toffee-dipped-apple-pops, and more banana bread (vegan so the kids can lick the batter!) This week, Ms. Melodie's class made granola with currants and bananas. They loved it!

Ms. Marie's class started learning about volcanoes this week. We made a small model and the children got to use vinegar and baking soda, dyed orange of course, to pretend it was erupting. As you can see, the kids are now obsessed with volcanoes, fire, and fire engines. The amount of volcano illustrations this week probably reached a hundred. The kids just sat in class popping one drawing out after the other!

On Wednesday we welcomed Miss Alina Lightchaser back to the school. She will start coming about once per month from now on since the kids adore her. Her voice is captivating and the kind of energy she brings into the classroom makes one feel completely alive. If anyone is interested, she hosts free parent-child music classes at 2640 Saint Paul Street in Baltimore on Monday mornings.

Abby's family kindly donated a fish tank for Ms. Melodie's classroom, two goldfish included. The kids voted on names today and chose "Cookie" and "Moon." We added an algae eater and some live plants this afternoon, so the tank is looking just beautiful.

Have a great weekend!
