In Honor of "Doctah Martin Loofah King" Jr.

What an amazing January we've had so far! The temperature has been all over the place! One day it's 20F and the next it's reaching over 60F. Needless to say, it's been a surprise each morning when it comes to how to dress the kids to play outside...

Fortunately, the school is nice and toasty inside and perfect for little brains that are ready to learn. With the new year, it feels like the children have been making tremendous strides each day. There are so many new readers these days, and the little ones who used to be so quiet are all the sudden creating entire sentences full of hilarious information.

This week the kids have been learning all about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.. They've looked at pictures of him and his family, read about what he did, and learned about how important it is to treat everyone kindly and with the same respect we expect for ourselves.

The chilren made pecan pie to celebrate Dr. King because it was his favorite dessert. They cracked and chopped the pecans, and enjoyed this delicious sweet treat. No wonder it was his favorite!

Today we welcomed Ms. Laura, a former teacher, and her grandson Gabriel to school for a morning visit. The students in Ms. Melodie's class shone in their efforts to make him feel welcome. It's amazing how helpful children as young as two can be. We are so lucky to have so many wonderfully caring little kids at our school. Thank you so much for sharing them with us, parents!
ps. The title is reflective of kid-speak. They say such cute things at this age!
