In September we welcomed the Carroll County mobile library to our school for the first of what will be many visits throughout the year. We were so lucky to get a spot on the book mobile's busy schedule. (We had inquired early in the year but there was no availability!)
The library will come to the school every three weeks and allow the children to take out one book. Today we had our second visit, and miraculously, we were able to locate each and every book from the last visit! The bus is set up just like a real library. There's even a real checkout desk! The children, especially the younger ones, were absolutely in awe of the whole process.
They've even taken to playing "library" during lunch and the way they've been treating our books has definitely improved. Just today, as Ms. Cindy the librarian walked into Ms. Melodie's classroom, one of the children quickly picked up a few books that were on the ground next to the bookshelf. We're happy to see how this new experience is showing the kids how important it is to respect libraries, books, and the generous individuals who work for such an awesome cause.
