Pumpkins, Spiders, and Straw

We had quite a busy week here at school! The first half still felt remarkably like summer, so the kids had a few lucky lunches outside on the picnic tables. By Wednesday, the weather had changed drastically to cold, wet, and... muddy! (I'm sure parents had fun doing the laundry this week.) In Ms. Marie's class, the kids baked pumpkin bread. In Ms. Melodie's class, they baked applesauce muffins. They also have a new (temporary) class pet, a tarantula. We finally found some time to rip up the old tomato plants and lay down some straw for the winter. As you can see, this was the highlight of the week. We still plan to plant some garlic in the bed with the peas, radishes, and lettuce. Ms. Marie's students have been making beautiful paintings with powdered water colors. Ms. Melodie's class decided to plant some pretty flower bulbs outside in the side-yard near the door. While this fall weather is lovely, we can't wait to see them bloom this spring!
