stepping stones for the garden

This week, Emmi, Dylan, and Cole's mom organized a school project so each child could make a personalized stepping stone to border the butterfly garden. The kids brought in all sorts of cool stuff... broken broom handles, seashells, paperclips, action figures... the list goes on and on. It was such a great way to make use of all the plastic "junk" that might otherwise end up in under the car seat and eventually the trash can. Many of the kids' moms came in to help out with the project and we've ended up with over 50 stones! The teachers at Ava Wanas would like to thank you each for dedicting your time to helping every child create a beautiful work of art that will last for years and years in our butterfly garden. Speaking of the garden, it is now a certified Waystation with Monarch Watch. We hope to add many new perennial plants to help provide a comfortable habitat for the butterflies.
