Fly Fishing, Bows, and Arrows!

Can you believe how tiny some of them are?!

Abby's dad came to the school this week and shared his homemade collection of flies (for fly fishing), arrows, and a fancy bow! The children got to feel different animal furs that he uses to make the flies with. He made flies that look like mice and all sorts of creepy crawly critters. The kids absolutely loved everything and were a very respectful audience. Abby's dad even did a shooting demonstration. This was a much needed demonstration for the boys (who seem to be very enamored by guns right now). Shooting with bows and arrows is more of a traditional sport that takes practice, discipline, and art if one makes the arrows by hand. The children cheered and cheered even when he missed the target (though only by inches)!
